CONFIRMATION – A ‘NOT FOR PROFIT’ EVENT

FIRST CAME:

Stars Of 79 Night 6th Nov, 30 Years Since We Topped the Premier League

Written by Sean
Tuesday, 23 June 2009
As some may know, the Greenock Morton Supporters Trust have planned a night to celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the Players and Staff who took us to the top of the Premier League away back in 1979.
As there seems to be alot of gossip going on, (well it is in the latest Trust Newsletter) we thought it best to clear it all up.

The Date is 6th Nov 2009, venue Port Glasgow Town Hall, 1900-0100am

We have had meetings with Benny, his assistant Mike, and have most if not all players from that era coming along, all more than keen to be part of it all.

We have the Provost coming along and Pipers planned, all makes for a great night.

There is alot happening behind the scene, with a good few people working on making his a magic night, one for all to remember. We are busy finding video/tv footage for display, if anyone can help please PM me

With a sportmans dinner theme, tickets will go on sale mid July once speakers etc have been confirmed, but the aim of this night is one for the fans, so expect the ticket price to be as low as possible. The aim is not to make money but to make it as cheap as possible so‘real fans’ can get along, any money that maybe made will go to the new Greenock Morton Football Acadamy.

Details of how ticket sales will work will be updated here, soon.

AND THEN WE GOT:

Review of the business and results for the year

‘In November 2009 the Society ran a very successful celebration evening to commemorate Morton attaining top spot in the Premier League. The evening was enjoyed by all who attended but,

…..regrettably, after the

evening it became

apparent that the Society

would not enjoy the

expected financial benefit

…..

The event was not designed to make a profit!! Any profit was earmarked for the Football Academy of which Messrs. Duncan and Goodwin are directors.

IT WAS NOT INTENDED

FOR THE ‘SOCIETY’S

COFFERS!!

Furthermore, the four figure profit generated by Messrs. Goodwin and Morrison’s DVD sales – an integral part of the ‘Stars’ event – HAS NEVER BEEN included in the multivarious sets of ‘accounts’ presented by Duncan and Co. in their ever more desperate attempt to pin a deficit on Jim Gallacher while some £1400 of Donnelly’s ticket income remained unaccounted for. (Goodwin and Morrison coerced the rest into running to the Police while Donnelly tipped off the ‘Tilly’!)

…SO what of Messrs. Duncan and Goodwin and their ‘Academy’? What has become of the venture? As with all things ‘Duncan’ the truth appears to be well hidden from those who are entitled to know -those whose hard work, money, and presence made the ‘Stars’ event such an ovewhelming and profitable success……

….and meanwhile one of his Academy Directors faces defamation charges.

ROBINSON’S VOICE BECOMING HEARD

Review of the business and results for the year
‘In November 2009 the Society ran a very successful celebration evening to commemorate Morton attaining top spot in the Premier League. The evening was enjoyed by all who attended but, regrettably, after the evening it became apparent that the Society would not enjoy the expected financial benefit as a result of what appeared to be financial irregularities. The board at the time conducted its own investigations and made a complaint to the police but this was not pursued due to the lack of an adequate paper trail.
Your board then decided to explore the possibility of a civil action against the individual they believed responsible for the shortfall. In May 2010 eight new board members were appointed and these included a chartered accountant with wide experience of investigation work and a lawyer. It was decided that these two would form a sub committee to independently review the “Stars of 79” celebration with input from one of the main organisers of the evening. That work is ongoing and it is hoped that a settlement can be reached in order to allow the Society to fully move on. Apart from the gentlemen mentioned above the new board has acquired significant expertise in areas such as website development and event management and I am confident that future events will be run in a much more professional and controlled manner.
For the purposes of these accounts we have not anticpated any recovery of losses from the evening but we remain hopeful that monies can be recovered’.

OVER TO INSPECTOR DEARIE:
….but officers have now completed their investigation – and say no one will be prosecuted.
Detective Inspector John Dearie, of Greenock CID, said: “We interviewed the individual at the centre of it and the end result is there will be no charges.
“There is no criminality we can see at this stage to prove any charges. There has to be a proper paper trail and accounts and in this case that was missing. It is a civil matter between the organisation and individual.”
DI Dearie also confirmed his team had established a small shortfall in funds from the event, which was held in November to honour the famous Ton team from 30 years ago.
He said: “There is a shortfall of a small amount of cash but this is probably due to the haphazard way it was organised.
“The shortfall is not a significant sum and nowhere near the sums talked about initially – it could be accounted for by bad business practice.

The complaint was FULLY investigated!!!!

Mortonjag is of the opinion that certain Trust Committee members are pathological LIARS.

Subject: Trust Committee Meeting – Thursday 24th June 2010.

Importance: High

24TH JUNE 2010: F.A.O. Nick, Paul, Craig, Scott, Chris, Ewan, and Ross.
This is sent to you all as the new Trust committee members. I’ve excluded Gordon as he was personally involved in the aftermath of the ‘Stars’ event.
We are fellow Trust members with equal democratic rights. I object strongly to ‘cloak and dagger’ instructions to my elected representatives. THE TRUST HAS NO BOSS, yet unthinking respect for authority has been the enemy of truth from the outset.
Within the last forty eight hours, Stuart Duncan has openly discussed details of the ‘Stars’ evening with a non –Trust member. Please use that as your guide. It has been documented. I’m happy to meet with any of you should you wish to question me on anything, and any comments you make through any medium will be treated confidentially.
I suspect that at tonight’s meeting your attention will be focused on the actual evening of the ‘Stars’ celebration, and on the latest spreadsheet which was recently ‘cobbled together’. There is MUCH, MUCH MORE to be considered. The latest attempt to ‘nail  the culprit’ is something of a red herring.
The figures from both ‘sides’ are largely based on estimates and on circumstantial evidence. For example, much ‘mileage’ has been gained from an estimated ‘phone bill of £250, when on the other hand, the Trust’s Bar Income figure appears to have been plucked out of the air!
Going to Court could prove to be a very costly error for the Trust, and certainly requires a mandate from the Membership. The published rules are very clear on that. WE ARE A DEMOCRACY AND MUST BEHAVE DEMOCRATICALLY. In constitutional terms, independent audit can be sought at a future date if that is believed not to have been done.
A crucial piece of ‘evidence’ which may be put to you tonight concerns the sum of £600 (in used £5 notes withdrawn from the tombola) which Stuart claims was paid to one of the speakers. The story does not hold water, and will not stand scrutiny in Court. That is a fact and I’m willing to explain the reasons to any of you in confidence.
In the original accounts submitted to the Police BY THE COMMITTEE, the same item of expenditure (which was actually £650) was assigned to J.G. and was not disputed.
Stuart now insists that he ‘REMEMBERS’ the details correctly, while conceding that they are ‘hard to prove’, whereas Jim Gallacher’s version has remained consistent throughout. Stuart has also produced at least six figures for his ‘deficit’, three of which have been in formal statements implicating J.G.
Strathclyde Police C.I.D. spent several weeks investigating the alleged theft. They had been informed that J.G. had ‘had had to come by a large sum of money to pay for water damage to his flat’, when in fact the damage was covered by his insurers! Background checks were run on him, and his employers were interviewed. Eventually they discounted criminality citing ‘bad business practice’ on the part of the Trust. At that point they indicated that the likely deficit was of the order of £1400 to £1500 – less than a third of the sum originally demanded of J.G. All of that has too readily been dismissed, in what I make no apology for describing as a subsequent and sustained ‘internet witchhunt’.
With regard to J.G.’s integrity, you are probably all aware of the recent allegation on greenockmorton.org implicating him in a previous irregularity. I have since seen a statement from an independent third party which completely exonerates him. Again I’m happy to discuss details with any of you confidentially. J.G. works as a buyer for a large oil tanker company, and in the course of his employment he is involved in substantial monetary transactions.
Something which should concern all of us as Trust members, and which I believe should be questioned this evening is Messrs. Blair and Bryden’s professional situation. They claim to represent ‘The Trust Board’, when in fact they have taken instructions from at best three individuals in a committee of fourteen.  MOST EMPHATICALLY, THEY CANNOT CLAIM TO REPRESENT THE MEMBERSHIP. That will be put to them by J.G.’s solicitor within the next few days if it has not already been done. When he contacted Blair and Bryden to discuss recent correspondence and figures, he was told that the lawyer concerned was on annual leave. I believe he returned to the office yesterday.
My concern as one of your fellow Trust members has always been that justice must not only be done, but must be seen to be done. The Trust is currently in a perilous state. If it is to survive, I believe that Stuart, Danny, and Sean must start to put the interests of the Membership before personal matters.
There is an easy way and a hard way to bring the ‘Stars’ debacle to a conclusion. The latter will probably kill the Trust. With that in mind I sincerely ask you one and all, irrespective of any differences or misunderstandings we may previously have had, to insist that before any decision is reached on further action you are made privy to every item of email correspondence between the ‘Trust’ and Jim Gallacher, and to ALL of the pertinent legal documentation.
I’ll willingly provide copies of those documents to you individually. They portray a very different picture from that which has been deliberately publicized, and I’ve already explained more formally that the terms ‘extortion’ and ‘blackmail’ have been used by J.G.’s solicitor.
I’ve suggested that tonight your attention may be deliberately focused on the events of the evening itself and on the ‘Trust’s latest version of the figures. As a fellow Trust member I advise you to think VERY CAREFULLY about the following information.  I believed from the outset that something was being hidden, and Stuart has always claimed that a ‘deficit’ exists for the night. He may well be correct, as available figures appear to indicate that £1400 to £1500 of ticket income was not banked. J.G.’s ‘ticket money’ has been accounted for. Sean was responsible for the rest.
Finally, and VERY IMPORTANTLY, there’s the ongoing matter of defamatory statements. Danny’s original statement which was ratified within hours by Stuart was the reason I became involved in the first place. Sean’s serial accusations are well know to you all!
Provisional writs have now been sent to Danny and Sean, and it is still possible that action may be taken against Stuart.
I ask you all very sincerely to believe that this matter will, if necessary, be pursued to a conclusion.
Funding (from an independent source) is not an issue, as a satisfactory outcome will outweigh everything else. The Trust must surely survive at any cost.
Court actions will attract publicity and the Trust will undoubtedly be seen in a very dim light as the parties concerned were initially asked only to provide proposals for apology. Provisional writs were issued after they failed to respond, and to date neither Danny nor Sean has formally acknowledged their existence!
In the interests of all of us as Trust members, they have a responsibility either to prove their allegations or to make reparation to J.G. Their statements were made in their capacity as our elected representatives. They cannot hide from that. Further procrastination compounds the damage.
I recommend that Stuart, Danny, and Sean ‘step aside’, and that appropriate reparation is made to J.G. Nothing more and nothing less is required. I believe that it is now imperative that that is done as soon as possible.
It’s for all of you as a committee representing all of the members to ensure that things are now done in a manner which involves as little further damage as possible to everyone involved, but more importantly TO THE TRUST. You are responsible for your actions on behalf of a Membership which expects you to safeguard its interests. I ask you to take that responsibility very seriously tonight.

Ernie Newall.

…….AND THE VERY NEXT DAY THOSE WHO DELIBERATELY ENCOURAGED MORTONJAG TO ACT AS AN INTERMEDIARY WHILST STEADFASTLY REFUSING TO MEET MR GALLACHER CLAIMED TO HAVE ‘EXAMINED ALL OF THE EVIDENCE’ AND ANNOUNCED TO MORTONJAG THAT ‘THERE WOULD BE NO FURTHER COMMUNICATION’ WITH HIM.

‘AULD NICK’ ROBINSON AND ‘PARTNER IN CRIME’ CHRIS ‘KORKY’ McCORKINDALE THEN SET UP A PURPORTEDLY ‘ACROSS THE TABLE’ MEETING WITH MR. GALLACHER AT WHICH MR. ROBINSON FLATLY REFUSED TO DISCUSS DONNELLY’S ‘DEFICIT’ WHILE ATTEMPTING TO  TO BULLY THE FORMER INTO ADMITTING ‘GUILT’ AND MAKING AN OFFER.

THAT IS ON RECORD WITH THE SOLICITOR WHO WAS PRESENT.

THERE WILL BE MANY MANY MORE ‘SNIPPETS’ IN THE FORTHCOMING DAYS, AND AS PROMISED A FULL REPORT WILL APPEAR ELSEWHERE ONCE THE DEFAMATION ACTIONS HAVE BEEN HEARD.

THE INPUT OF MESSRS GOODWIN AND MORRISON WILL INTEREST THOSE WHO ONLY WANT THE TRUTH.

Perhaps snippet No 9 will be of SPECIAL interest.

DONNELLY TO EXAMINE HIS OWN DEFICIT!

contravenes the constitution and must be totally unacceptable to the membership. The committee is apparently unaware that a constitution exists.

Furthermore the committee – or more specifically certain members of the committee are currently courting very unwelcome (and needless) publicity because of arrogant and pig headed intransigence over the Stars of ’79 fiasco – something which WAS ENTIRELY OF THEIR OWN MAKING, AND WILL NOT GO AWAY.

JIM GALLACHER WAS ‘STITCHED UP’ TO FURTHER A WICKED AGENDA AND EIGHT MONTHS DOWN THE LINE THEY ARE PLUNGING THEMSELVES EVEN DEEPER INTO THEIR OWN CESSPIT  BECAUSE THEY ARE UNABLE TO ADMIT THEY ARE WRONG. INCREDIBLY A COMMITTEE MEMBER AND EVENT C0-ORGANISER AGAINST WHOM THERE IS STILL AN APPARENT FOUR FIGURE UNEXPLAINED DEFICIT AND WHO CURRENTLY FACES DEFAMATION CHARGES, HAS BEEN SELECTED TO SIT ON A SUB-COMMITTEE INVESTIGATING THE MATTER. BLIND ARROGANCE IT WOULD APPEAR IS ALIVE,
KICKING, AND ENDORSED BY THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE TRUST

Mortonjag has made it perfectly clear that this travesty of justice is heading straight for a tabloid exposure – warts and all- unless certain gentlemen get real and get real real quick! That is a statement of fact.

That’s the nasty bit over for today, and now for some good news. Mortonjag has now seen that much vaunted publication – the Trust Newsletter.  Mortonjag of course has not received his copy but this little chap is always at hand in times of need!

It is attractively presented, neatly laid out, easy to read, and well illustrated. The fact that it is utterly meaningless until the Stars farce is fixed should not detract from the hard endeavour which has clearly gone into the production.

Well done chaps -now get working on the three eejits who have been dragging you to destruction from day one! There is still time -JUST!

I INVITED THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS TO CONTACT ME

Mortonjag’s blog entry this morning is very serious, and is specifically for the attention of Paul Gill and his fellows on the Trust Committee. There are no photographs, irony, sarcasm, or ‘smileys’, and everything is said with absolute sincerity.

Yesterday Paul used an event totally unconnected with Mortonjag in an attempt to censor this blog. That is perhaps understandable when Mortonjag has been so brutally critical of the Trust Committee, but Mortonjag does not blog by choice. It is his only means of voicing opinion and of asking questions of the Trust Committee – specifically regarding their handling of the ‘Stars of ’79’ business. For that reason Mortonjag will continue to exercise his right to freedom of speech through this medium until dialogue is again entertained.

The background to all of this is well known by those who care for the Trust, including a number of fellow members who regularly correspond with Mortonjag. The blog was born because Mortonjag was banned from greenockmorton.org, something which was done in an attempt to silence him regarding the ‘Stars of ’79’ business.

Several weeks ago and by mutual agreement, mention of the Trust Committee disappeared from the blog while ‘negotiations’ were taking place. Those ‘negotiations’ were sanctioned by the current Chairman, Stuart Duncan, and facilitated by Paul Gill.  Mortonjag made it crystal clear at the time that he was not acting for any individual – that he simply wanted the matter concluded and justice seen to be done – for the benefit of the Trust.

After multiple emails and several telephone conversations, lengthy face to face discussions finally took place between Mortonjag and two separate Committee members. During and after those meetings information was provided for the Trust Committee on a bona fide basis, that being the explicit understanding that the ‘Stars of ’79 business’ would finally be ‘sorted from within’, allowing everyone to move on.

At a subsequent Committee meeting the information was examined as were several points and questions put in writing by Mortonjag. An email had been sent to the new Committee members immediately prior to the meeting in which Mortonjag explained his stance in frank detail, expressing serious reservations about the future of the Trust unless certain matters were addressed urgently.

Immediately thereafter  Mortonjag was informed officially that no further communication was invited. The Committee had  ‘examined all of the evidence’. They were united on the  handling of the ‘Stars of ’79’ issue and agreed on the way ahead.

No satisfactory explanation was given for the unheralded ‘silence’ except a claim that potential legal action prevented dialogue. NO LEGAL PROCEEDINGS BY EITHER ‘SIDE’ WERE CURRENT AT THE TIME OF THAT MEETING.

Mortonjag is firmly of the opinion that exactly the opposite should have applied – certainly if the Committee had any intention whatsoever of reaching an early settlement. Bizarrely, having suggested that ‘all of the evidence had been seen’ BEFORE coming to their decision the final sentence appeared somewhat contradictory:

If you believe that you have firm evidence to refute the board’s position it would be in everyone’s interest if that could be made available for our further consideration’.

That  came across as arrogant, dismissive, and frivolous, given that communication had already been severed. The new members had apparently embraced the philosophy of their predecessors.

Meanwhile Paul Gill intimated that ‘he would not be returning emails or ‘phone calls’, and it was made clear that any correspondence to any Committee member had to be be copied to all of the others.

Faced with an impasse, and persuaded that the ‘negotiations’ had been nothing other than a shameless abuse of  trust, Mortonjag was forced to revert to blogging.

To date there has been no response to the points and questions put to the Committee as a member, in good faith, and on the very clear understanding that ‘matters would be sorted from within’.

As there is an apparently unexplained deficit in the Trust’s accounts which Mortonjag had asked to be addressed at that meeting, Mortonjag wrote to the Committee requesting details of the latest annual return. The rules clearly specify that that MUST be provided on request Two letters have been delivered. Neither has  been acknowledged. Meanwhile a warning has been received from the Secretary, indicating that Mortonjag may be expelled from membership at the forthcoming A.G.M. for allegedly making ‘detrimental comments about the Trust on his blog and on greenockmorton.org’.

It is abundantly clear that the Trust cannot move forward until the ‘Stars of ’79 business’ is finalised. The ‘current relaunch’- albeit well intended – is surely doomed while legal actions real and threatened are ongoing.

In terms of litigation members should understand that the Trust Committee set the ball in motion. All subsequent legal intervention has been a direct result of Trust Committee actions/inaction.

Yesterday Paul Gill brought things to a head with his specific request to Mortonjag to modify the blog. Mortonjag has always been happy to entertain mediation but ‘it takes two to tango’.

Accordingly, and for the second time, Mortonjag offers to assist the Committee in an attempt to resolve the ‘Stars of ’79’ issue. That must inevitably involve dialogue.

A sincere invitation is extended to each member of the Trust Committee (and indeed to the Committee as a whole) to communicate with Mortonjag as soon as possible. Any realistic suggestion aimed at bringing the matter to an early conclusion will be treated with respect and in absolute confidence. Because of ongoing damage to the Trust while things remains unresolved, Mortonjag considers this matter urgent and his offer will expire at midnight on 28th July.

Hopefully the ‘Stars of ’79’ issue need not go all the way to a penalty shoot out!

RE. DEFAMATORY STATEMENTS

John Black has sheepishly obeyed Paul Gill – the man whose beady eyes are fixed on the Chairman’s seat! Black has subserviently closed the GMST forum on greenockmorton.org – within hours of Gill’s bidding!
During  the last seven months that forum on Bell’s Comic has unashamedly been used as a TRUST COMMITTE PROPAGANDA PLATFORM. That has been plain for all to see. The TRUST COMMITTEE’s propaganda has now dried up, and as paranoid Gill interprets all questions of the TRUST COMMITTEE as ‘attacks’ it just had to go!

Bizarrely, ordinary poster ‘Barbarossa’ asked for the very same action some weeks ago. Like Mortonjag he has never understood the co – existence of a dedicated Trust website and a forum on the fans’ message board- but Black told him to ‘shut it’. Black loves telling people to do things – normally in monosyllables!
Anyway, Mortonjag congratulates Johnny Boy for now doing the right thing for all the wrong reasons, and hopefully there will no longer be any of the sort of shameless nonsense which gets folk into trouble with the law! The list below is FAR from exhaustive!

The truth will eventually out and rest assured I will do all in my power to get the Trust members money back…….. yes it is all very sad, but no-one is going to get away with stealing members money. It is such a shame that this has blackened such a great night, but unfortunately money was stolen and that really is the bottom line.

 Jan 31 2010, 03:04 PMPost #28

MJ – this will be my last post on the matter. It is a personal statement.
I am 100% confident that I have the evidence required to get the trust members money back from one individual.
I have prepared a full report on the matter which will be published at the appropriate time.
I had kept away from the topic due to all the rumour, innuendo, guesswork while I worked away in the background to get to the whole truth of the matter, especially in the circumstances of there being a lack of a papertrail.
I have not sat idly by – I have done my utmost to make a thorough investigation as has been practically possible based on the experience of my former employment.
In the fullness of time ALL THE FACTS pertaining to the missing money will be published and there for all to see.
In my position of being a Trust Board member I am duty bound to to protect shareholders money, but even at that, as an individual I will not stand by and do nothing when members money has been misapropriated.
As I have said, I will post the FACTS of the matter at the appropriate time for everyone to see. And I will repeat, I am 100% confident in getting the Trust members money back.

Stuart Duncan  Jan 31 2010, 05:03 PMPost #56

Try new glasses!!
I can answer that and it will also be my last post on the subject. I have a detailed account of all moneys paid into the Trust account and all monies paid out of the Trust account for the event. And a very clear paper trail with both cheque stubs and pay in book stubs backed up by Trust bank account statements from the BOS.
There is a very clear deficit of £1600 for the event.
BTW I agree with Danny summation given he has also made enquiries of people the police didn’t talk to.

Stuart Duncan: ‘Couldn’t disagree with you more Ian. Its was always our intention to fully investigate further, after the police decided not to act, before taking legal advice. Its just taken us longer than we thought to get to everyone we wanted to speak to. But we are confident of getting a result one way or another. It may even once more become the subject of a police investigation’.
